Over the past two decades, Dr Weber has served as Lead Doctor and Medical Director of Bodyvie, while also working at several of Harley Street’s most renowned clinics and contributing regularly to the medical lecture circuit. With extensive credentials and expertise, Dr Weber specialises in women’s health and places strong emphasis on continuous professional development within his team.
One of the areas Dr Weber focuses on is reproductive health, including the study of hormones such as anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH). AMH is produced by the granulosa cells in a woman’s ovarian follicles and serves as an important marker of ovarian reserve, helping to assess fertility potential.
In women, anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) levels can assist medical practitioners in starting the conversation and understanding information about fertility and reproductive health, including an individual’s ability to get pregnant.
A woman’s ovaries can make thousands of eggs during her childbearing years. This number generally depletes with age, but also due to other factors, including health, genetics and medical history. AMH test helps to identify the egg reserve – number of potential remaining eggs – of a woman.
Some women may test their AMH levels when planning a natural pregnancy, however, it is important to note that whilst low AMH indicates a diminished ovarian reserve (DOR), it is not definitive. It also does not provide an indication of egg quality. AMH levels on their own shouldn’t be used to predict infertility.
AMH levels are more often tested for in assisted conception methods such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Here it can be used to predict and monitor the number of eggs you produce, as well as IVF protocols such as the dosage of medication used to stimulate egg production.
At Bodyvie our doctors and phlebotomists take a small tube of blood (usually from the arm), which can be sent to our processing lab, The Doctors Laboratory, for testing. The procedure is quick and easy and results are returned quickly providing patients with peace of mind and assisting in medical treatment protocols. In addition, Bodyvie offers a comprehensive range of most blood testing via its testing lab – The Doctors Laboratory.
