Hormone replacement therapy can alleviate these symptoms by delivering precise duplicates of the hormones that the body is no longer producing (body identical), or a compound to achieve similar results (bio-identical).
In addition to easing symptoms, continued hormone replacement therapy is linked with a reduction of cardiac events such as heart attacks and strokes, reduction of musculoskeletal concerns including osteoporosis and collagen reduction, and protection from cognitive concerns including dementia.

That depends. Patients who begin HRT before their last period will take hormones cyclically and will continue to have their periods.
Patients who have not had a period for a year or longer will take HRT continuously. They will not have periods but may experience a bit of irregular bleeding or spotting when starting HRT. This should not last more than 6 months.
